Game progress on your device

Your current guesses, completion state, duplicate hints, and whether you have seen the rules are stored in your browser’s local storage. This information stays on that device unless you clear your browser data. SIXY does not require an account.

When you complete a puzzle, SIXY sends the puzzle number, whether you won, and the number of guesses used to calculate the anonymous daily player count and performance percentile. A random browser identifier is converted to a one-way, puzzle-specific code so the same browser is counted only once per puzzle. We do not receive your name or the words you guessed.

Anonymous product analytics

SIXY uses PostHog to understand aggregate usage, including page views, game starts, guess numbers, completions, and result sharing. Analytics may also include technical details such as browser type, device type, approximate location derived from an IP address, and event timestamps.

We have disabled automatic click tracking, session recordings, heatmaps, error capture, and identified person profiles. Guess words and daily answers are not sent in our custom analytics events. PostHog stores an anonymous identifier in local storage so repeat visits can be counted.

Website traffic measurement

SIXY also uses Google Analytics 4 to measure visits, sessions, referral sources, approximate geography, device and browser categories, engagement, scrolls, outbound link clicks, and other standard website interactions. This gives us an independently recognized traffic history for understanding audience growth and working with advertising partners.

Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers. We do not send puzzle guesses, daily answers, names, email addresses, or account information to Google Analytics. Learn how Google processes information from sites that use its services in Google’s partner-sites privacy explanation.

Advertising and cookies

SIXY may display advertising supplied by Google AdSense and other advertising partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads based on a visitor’s prior visits to SIXY or other websites.

Google’s advertising cookies enable Google and its partners to personalize advertising. Visitors can manage personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings and may manage certain third-party advertising choices at AboutAds. Where required, SIXY will present a consent message before using advertising technologies.

Sharing and retention

We use service providers only to operate, measure, secure, and monetize SIXY. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Aggregate analytics are retained only as long as reasonably useful for understanding the game and operating the service.

Children’s privacy

SIXY is a general-audience word game and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request names, email addresses, or other direct contact information from children.

Your choices and questions

You can remove local game progress and the anonymous analytics identifier by clearing site data for sixy.app in your browser. Advertising and consent choices can be managed through the controls described above. For privacy questions, email hello@sixy.app.
